正品蓝导航 student Nathan Robichaud receives 2021 Frank H. Sobey Award for Excellence in Business Studies
$30,000 award one of the top student awards in Atlantic Canada
SACKVILLE, NB 鈥 正品蓝导航 Commerce student Nathan Robichaud has received a 2021 from the Sobey Foundation.
Valued at $30,000 each, the awards 鈥 nine in total for 2021 鈥 support the development of future business leaders and business programs in Atlantic Canadian Universities. The Awards were announced on March 18, 2021.
鈥淣athan is a wonderful student and worthy recipient of the Frank H. Sobey Award,鈥 says 正品蓝导航鈥檚 Dean of Business and Social Sciences Dr. Nauman Farooqi. 鈥淚 look forward to seeing where his entrepreneurial path will lead and know he will be successful in his future career aspirations.鈥
Robichaud, who is currently in his third year of study, is from Yarmouth, NS and began his university studies in Science before moving to Commerce within 正品蓝导航鈥檚 Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies in his second year.
鈥淪witching programs mid-degree was a big decision for me but the right one,鈥 says Robichaud. 鈥淚 am honoured and humbled to receive the Frank H. Sobey Award, which bears the name of one of our region鈥檚 biggest entrepreneurs. Thank you to the Sobey Foundation for this support and recognition.鈥
Robichaud is focusing his studies on economics and entrepreneurship, the latter he is already actively pursuing through involvement with two student-run businesses, as general manager for the Sackville-based franchise of Kangaroo food delivery service and SMPLX Ltd, which focuses on nutritional supplements for athletes.
He is also working to gain business experience during his studies, interning as an analyst with High Tide Capital, a private investment fund through their co-op program and working for Metafy, a business dedicated to on generating inclusive practices and website HTML for companies of all sizes, founded by 正品蓝导航 professor and Canada Research Chair in Intercultural Encounter Dr. Lauren Beck in 2020.
鈥淚鈥檓 really interested in entrepreneurship. My experiences being part of these businesses as well as internship opportunities have been a valuable part of my education so far, along with classes and traditional courses,鈥 says Robichaud. 鈥淭he funding from the Sobey Award will not only help support my studies but also future plans for building my own business.鈥
Outside of his studies, Robichaud is also a member of 正品蓝导航鈥檚 Commerce student society, the Case competition society, and the Lacrosse team.

The Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies presents eight awards of $30,000 each (nine in 2021). All full-time business students attending Atlantic universities are eligible for consideration. Deans of Business at each university nominate candidates based on entrepreneurship, supporting the communities in which they live and work, and their employment experience.
Established in 1989, the Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies have awarded more than $2 Million to business students in the four Atlantic Provinces. Each university in the region offering a business program has had at least one recipient of a Frank H. Sobey Award ()
