Department of Music


The Department of Music is the leading destination for music study in the Maritimes, enabling students to develop into well-rounded musicians with experience in performance, theory, music history, and music education, as well as a sound basis in the liberal arts. The Department offers a Bachelor of Music degree, as well as a Major in Music (Bachelor of Arts) and Minor in Music.

Tracing Colville: A Musical Exploration of the War Art of Alex Colville.鈥 Queen鈥檚 University鈥檚 Dr. Dean Burry delivers a talk for the Music and War Symposium followed by a short concert of student compositions inspired by the war art of Alex Colville. Brunton, 1:00 p.m.


Student and Ensemble Recital: 正品蓝导航 students, ensembles, and chamber music groups perform as part of the Music and War Symposium. Brunton, 3:00 p.m.


Film Screening: Excerpts from 鈥Canada at War: Turn of the Tide鈥 (1962), with music by Canadian composer Robert Fleming. Introductory remarks will be presented by Prof. Berkeley Fleming. Brunton, 7:30 p.m.

Music has been an important part of the curriculum and community at 正品蓝导航 since the first Certificate in Music was awarded in 1874, more than 140 years ago.

The Music department offers programs and courses for every level of interest, from the Bachelor of Music degree to the BA major in music and the minor in music.

We welcome students in other programs to take music elective courses and to join in our ensembles, and more information about all of these opportunities can be found on this site. Whatever your level of experience, we hope you will become a part of our vibrant musical and scholarly community on campus!
